New Motor Records is a division of Red Boot Entertainment Group Inc., and is distributed by ADA/Warner Music Canada. Originally started in 2022 under the name Sakamoto Music, a division of the award-winning booking agency Sakamoto Agency Inc., New Motor Records has grown into a multi-genre endeavour.
The label is led by longtime industry professional Joelle May, whose passion for music and entrepreneurial spirit drives the business forward. With nearly 20 years in the music industry, Joelle was recently nominated as Business Professional of the Year (BCCMA, 2025) and Entrepreneur of the Year (Women in Music Canada, 2024), in addition to previously being a multiple-award nominated music publicist and event coordinator.Over her career Joelle has gone through all levels of the music business, from touring across Canada with indie artists in her 1975 camper van, to handling international media for astronauts and former presidential candidates, working with chart-topping artists and legendary producers, and everything in between.
Red Boot Entertainment Group Inc. is made up of New Motor Records, and its sister business Red Boot Live; a promotions company that works with all ranges of genres and shows from PAC’s to arena level touring.
